Living Memorial is a "counter-memorial" and a grassroots social movement created by a community initiative. The series of protests against the "Memorial to the Victims of the German Occupation" planned and implemented by the government on Szabadság Square in Budapest is a series of public actions organized by civil associations, based on participation and public dialogue. The protest is based on the assumption that the monument contains a falsification of history, if its symbolism can be interpreted as meaning that the Hungarian authorities of the time were not held responsible for the Hungarian Holocaust.
