Film
This is my favorite field because it is the most complex branch of art, myriad departments and people work towards a common goal and also because nothing is impossible in the film world. For example, it is possible to shoot summer even in winter, you only need to melt the snow inch by inch every square foot. 😀
I started this profession from the very bottom as an Assistant Art Director, meaning I drew, purchased and made props, and we scouted locations. Later I executed sets, painted, decorated, foiled, aged, etc. Over time, I dressed sets and then led the set dressers, the set construction and the SFX department. Then I designed the sets and in the last period I was already a Production Designer.
During the filming, in addition to the set issues, I also learned a lot about other departments’ roles: cinematography, lighting, dramaturgy, production management, acting management, casting, directing, editing, music, and so on. And while, of course, I don't understand these areas as in-depth as their "masters," I know enough to perfectly see through the whole process of filming and -unlike others, different from others- I can incorporate aspects of these fields into my work as well, whatever position I am requested to do in the given production.
