Events

My development in this professional field is actually due to chance: Since I have always lived in very unique places in Budapest, from time to time I held a “house party” for 50-60 people in my home. My colleagues were also frequent guests at these, so when it came to organizing a corporate party, it was obvious that I was entrusted with organizing it. This is where the idea came from that maybe this could be done on a professional level as well. The idea was followed by action, which in two weeks turned into an event for 500 people…
Organizing events was a whole new field compared to what I had done before. Although this is seemingly not an artistic activity, I still approach this topic from this perspective and I also apply my knowledge and experience accumulated from other branches of art (filming, interior design, design, etc.) when organizing events. And as it turned out, exactly this knowledge’s incorporation into execution is what makes the events I organize completely unique and inimitable compared to other events with similar purposes.
One of the reasons for this is that, just as in the case of a film, I take great care to choose each venue, as it fundamentally determines not only the atmosphere of the gathering, but also the possibilities of spatial arrangement through its geometry and features. And although event organizers usually pay little attention to it, just as in the case of exhibitions, I consider spatial planning to be a top priority -namely, the spatial placement and positioning of the “objects” with different functions (buffet, stage, dance floor, showroom, restroom, etc.), and to create possible walking routes between them, because if we “sheperd” people correctly, we can keep many more people at the event and that’s essential to the revenue of catering (and the whole event).
Another reason for the success is that the events I organize are never average exhibition openings or musical events, but very carefully themed gatherings. I want to affect all the senses of the guests. At each event, the music & exhibition is the foundation, which is complemented by thematic catering and other interactive games, screenings, presentations, etc.

Backstage Budapest

Social Event

Responsibilities: Creator, Organizer, Spatial Designer
Location: Tilos Rádió headquarters, Budapest
Year: 2016

About the Event: I created the event Backstage Budapest - Secret Social Experiment for people to build relationships, so that the professionals working in the different fields of media, culture, art, science, etc. would be able to gain new contacts, jobs and friendships.
The event took place in the building of Tilos Rádió*. I asked influencers from 8 different fields to invite 50-50 people from their own circle (of acquaintances) to the event. Among the invited guests were journalists, filmmakers, musicians, designers, and the founder of TEDxDanubia (the Hungarian version of the franchise of TED Talks).
Unfortunately I do not have any statistics about the exact quantity or types of relationships formed that night,  but I know for sure about a marriage...

*Tilos Rádió (Forbidden Radio in English) is a community, non-profit, listener supported radio station in Budapest, Hungary. The station is one of the most archived radio stations in the world, with the past 12 years (since April 1st 2010) recorded and uploaded to their online archive 24/7.

Fairy Island

Music Festival

Original title: Tündérsziget
Responsibilities: Creator, Organizer, Spatial Designer
Location: Lupa Island, Danube River
Year: 2015

About the Event: This music festival was held on a tiny island in the Danube River  beyond the northern edge of Budapest. 24 acclaimed electronic DJs provided the music for 24 hours and there were also light installations and projections.
Only one tiny boat commuted back and forth between the shore of the mainland and the island with which people could get to the venue, but there were those who arrived by their own speedboat and those who arrived by canoe.
This event proved to be a difficult task mainly due to the choice of location. Getting all the equipment, supplies, staff and all the guests to the venue (and back) was a serious logistical challenge, but it was solved and in the end the festival went well and was a success.

R

Art & Multimedia Event

Responsibilities: Creator, Organizer, Spatial Designer
Location: Jurányi Incubator House, Budapest
Year: 2015

About the Event: Jurányi Incubator House is a special location. The aim of creating it  was to provide a stable, common home for the independent theater and creative industries, providing the necessary infrastructure for day-to-day operations, and to create a cultural center in the elite Buda milieu (a “contemporary art house”) where e.g. art-friendly young people are conveniently able to spend a few hours with a coffee, or on a theater performance, a creative children’s session or an acrobatic exercise class, thus refilling this abandoned educational institution with an active community life.
As part of this, we undertook with more than 60 exhibitors and performers to present contemporary Hungarian artists, digital interactive designers and other creators.
For the opening of the exhibition, I designed a special party with live graffiti wall painting, a fashion show, a robot race, and so on. The event ended with great success. Similar events have been held at the Incubator House ever since.

Dada 99

Art Event

Responsibilities: Creator, Organizer, Spatial Designer
Location: Belgrade wharf, Budapest
Year: 2015

About the Event: On the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the establishment of Dadaism, I organized a large-scale Dadaist exhibition and party with 15 musical performers, 12 fine arts performers, 2 art history performers, 8 interactive designer performers in 6 separate venues in one of the most impressive locations along the bank of Danube River, in one of the buildings in Belgrade wharf. Naturally, both the musical and the fine arts performers, with the nature of Dadaism in mind, were prepared for the evening with a unique performance.
We hosted about 500 people that evening, and among the guests there was the cream of the crop of Budapest's music, fine arts and film life. This event, one can say, has become legendary; for weeks the whole city talked about it and it is still mentioned to this day.
